Get The Smile You've Always Wanted With Porcelain Veneers

Porcelain Veneers, Oasis Smile Dentistry

Are you unhappy with your smile? Do you avoid smiling because you don’t like the way your teeth look? You’re not alone. In fact, in a recent survey, a whopping 81 percent of respondents said they don’t like the way their smiles look in photographs, and about a third of the respondents said they’re so unhappy with their teeth, they avoid smiling in photos and on social media. Those numbers underscore the role a great-looking smile plays in helping men and women feel more attractive and more self-confident.

And guess what? Your concerns aren’t entirely unfounded. The American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry conducted a different type of survey, this time looking at how people with unattractive smiles are perceived by others. That survey found about 40 percent of all respondents felt people with imperfect or “flawed” smiles appeared less attractive and less confident compared to people with attractive smiles, and about half said a great-looking smile is important for making a lasting first impression.

Getting the smile you want — without prolonged treatment

Picture-perfect smiles rarely (if ever) happen naturally. Most of us have at least a few flaws we’re dealing with. Unfortunately, many of us avoid treating those flaws because we assume treatment will take months or even years to complete. But actually, at Oasis Smiles Dentistry we can correct a lot of those flaws in just a couple of office visits, thanks to porcelain veneers.

Porcelain veneers are super-thin “covers” that are adhered to the front surfaces of your teeth. The porcelain can be expertly shaped and tinted so the veneer blends seamlessly with your surrounding teeth, which means no one but you will know you ever had anything other than a Hollywood-style smile. Another advantage: Porcelain veneers can be used to cosmetically correct a lot of issues, including:

Because porcelain veneers are custom made on a patient-by-patient basis, your results can be tailored specifically for your needs so your smile looks beautiful, healthy and natural.

The veneer procedure

Veneers are really thin, but they still take up some “space.” So before a veneer is applied, you’ll need to have a little bit of your natural tooth material “shaved” off the surface of the tooth. This way, when the veneer is applied, it won’t “stick up” above the surfaces of the neighboring teeth. Once the tooth is shaped, Dr. Bhor takes an impression or mold of your teeth. The impression is sent to a lab where your porcelain veneer will be custom made using the latest technology and top-quality materials, then specially tinted to match the rest of your teeth. (Tip: Since porcelain veneers can’t be whitened, it’s a good idea to have a whitening treatment before getting veneers so all your teeth look their whitest and brightest.) Before you leave the office, Dr. Bhor will make a temporary veneer for your tooth while you’re waiting for your new permanent veneer to be made.

About two weeks later, you’ll come back to the office so your new veneer can be placed on your tooth. Dr. Bhor will remove the temporary veneer and carefully clean the tooth’s surface. Then she’ll apply the veneer using a really strong adhesive, finally shaping the veneer so it looks and feels great.
