Dental veneers do more than cover chipped, cracked, or discolored teeth. They can reshape and restore your entire smile. At Oasis Smiles in beautiful Rancho Bernardo near San Diego, Dr. Sasha Bhor uses dental veneers to fill gaps, correct misalignments, and transform the appearance of your teeth. Dedicated to delivering high-quality results, we’re ready to develop a personalized dental-veneer treatment plan for you.
A veneer is a thin shell that covers cracked, chipped or discolored teeth. They can also fill gaps and correct misalignments. Natural-looking and easy to maintain, dental veneers are a great way to restore a radiant smile quickly.
There are two kinds of dental veneers: porcelain and composite resin.
Strong and long-lasting, porcelain veneers are custom-manufactured to blend with your natural teeth seamlessly. Because they are highly stain-resistant, they are an excellent choice if you enjoy sipping coffee, tea or wine.
Composite resins offer a more cost-effective way to enhance your smile. These materials are made from a fluid mix of acrylic and glass filler material.
They're also colored, sculpted, and bonded to create a perfect look and fit. Although not as strong as porcelain, Dr. Bhor can easily repair them if they get damaged.
Dental veneers can correct a wide range of cosmetic issues, but they're inadvisable if you have thin enamel or severely misaligned teeth. In these cases, Dr. Bhor will suggest more suitable options.
Also, if you grind or clench your teeth, your veneers are more likely to chip or break. In these cases, Dr. Bhor will provide a dental night guard.
Lastly, any gum disease or dental decay require Dr. Bhor's attention before she can install your dental veneers.
During your first visit, Dr. Bhor performs a complete oral exam and determines if you're a good candidate for dental veneers. After discussing the look and shape you want to achieve, she plans your treatment.
If a porcelain veneer is selected, Dr. Bhor prepares your teeth by removing a little enamel from the front and sides of each tooth.
Next, she makes an impression of the teeth and sends it to our laboratory for fabrication. This process usually takes about 10 to 14 days. In the interim, Dr. Bhor provides you with a highly realistic temporary veneer.
On your following visit, she places the new veneer, and carefully checks the fit and shape before permanent bonding.
Because composite resin veneers are created on the spot, the procedure only requires one visit.
